Of all places, why choose Thailand?

Because it's the most tourist-friendly country in the Far East.

Because from Thailand you can easily continue to its interesting neighbors: Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam.

Which sites in Thailand would you be sure not to miss?
1.
The island of Ko Samui.

The bridge on the river Kwai, the one from the famous movie.

The royal palace in Bangkok.

The elephant training camp at Tang Dao.
6.
The unforgettable cliffs of Ko Pha Ngan.

I don't intend to miss a thing in Thailand; I'm going to stay here at least half a year and see it all!

What will you do in Bangkok?
1.
I'll visit all the temples: Wat Phra Kaew, Wat Pho, Wat Traimit, and others. I adore Far East architecture.
2.
I'll enjoy the floating market, Wat Sai - the most colorful and picturesque place in town.
3.
Shopping, shopping, and more shopping. I'm not coming home without a gilded Rolex.
4.
First of all, I'll spend a whole day at the royal Grand Palace. It's the most impressive place in town.
5.
Patpong - it's worth going to Thailand just for that experience.
6.
I'll hang out with all the other backpackers at motel Khao San Road - I don't care much about the city, hanging out with the guys is the main thing.
7.
I won't set foot in Bangkok; the heat, humidity and pollution in the city drive me nuts.

Where in Bangkok will you spend your nights?
1.
I'll treat myself to a classy hotel, such as the Peninsula, the Oriental, or the Shangri La.

I'll look for a boutique hotel, quiet, not too many rooms, such as Swiss Lodge.
3.
My workplace is paying, so they'll probably book me into some international chain such as the Holiday Inn, the Sheraton or the Hilton.
4.
I prefer something authentic, like Jim's Lodge or the Majestic Suites.
5.
I'll find a cheap place on Khao San Road - I can't afford anything better.

How will you get to Chiang Mai?
1.
I'll fly with the local airline.
2.
By private plane, it's safer.
3.
By motorbike.

I'll hire a car.

By taxi, with a local driver.

By bus, with all the locals. That's the only way to really experience it.

On elephant back.

By train from Bangkok.

Trekking through jungles, two months' walk from Bangkok.

Chiang Mai? Isn't that a dangerous area? I have no intention of going there.

What else will you do in Thailand?
1.
I'll take a Thai boxing course.

I'll join a Buddhist meditation workshop.
3.
I'll take a Thai massage course.
4.
I'll sign up for a cookery course. Thai food is my all-time favorite food.
5.
I'll try elephant riding.
6.
I'll find the most faraway, god-forsaken island and settle there for good.
7.
I'll learn the Thai alphabet. I think it's easier than Chinese.
8.
I'm only going for a week, I won't have time for anything more than the basic tourist route.

You've made it to Phuket island. How will you enjoy your week there?
1.
I'll hire a motorbike and scout the island, reaching every beach.
2.
I'll find a faraway, deserted beach and won't budge from there.
3.
Diving, snorkeling, everything connected with the wonderful ocean is for me.
4.
I'll settle near Patong beach and spend my money on bars, discos and cafes.
5.
I'll go on tours and trips: to the forest park of Ton Sai; the animal park of Khao Phra Thaeo; the Phuket Butterfly Farm, and so on.
6.
I'll get massages on the beach; there's no greater pleasure.
7.
I'll start every morning with a rum and pineapple cocktail. I'll end every evening with a Vodka and pineapple cocktail. And in between? I don't know yet.

I'm going to stay at the fanciest hotel on the island, and I'm paying in order to be entertained all day.

Nonstop action: water bike, canoe trips to nearby islands, water parachuting, water skiing, fishing, yacht sailing. Anything but just sitting on the beach.

I have no plans. On Phuket, the best thing is just to go with the flow, without planning. That's the beauty of the place.

The full moon festival, Makha Puja, in February.

The flower festival in Chiang Mai, at the beginning of February.

The water festival that takes place all over the country in April.

The Buddhist festival Visaka Puja, in early May.

The fireworks festival Bun Bang Fai in May.
6.
The full moon festival Asanha Puja in July.
7.
The Chinese vegetarian festival on the island of Phuket in October.

I don't plan my trip according to festivals.

What will you eat in Thailand?
1.
Thai eggroll, Paw Pia Tod.
2.
Hot and sour soup, Tom Yam.
3.
Fried rice, Kao Pad.
4.
Fish with vegetables and coconut milk, Hor Mok Pla.
5.
Meat with peanuts, Gaeng Mud Sa Man.
6.
Roast duck, Gaeng Ped
7.
Chicken with spring onions, Kao Nah Ghai.
8.
Rice noodles with garlic, Pad Thai.
9.
I'll taste everything, especially at stands on the streets and in markets; that's real Thai food!
10.
Thai food? That'll only give me an upset stomach. I'll stick to McDonald's!
