| George Richmond Collis was an interesting figure;he was also Vice-Consul for France, Russia and a number of other countries. The company was a follow on of Sir Edward Thomason in Birmingham, from who Collis took over in 1835. Collis later acquired models from Rundell, Bridge & Co, when that company closed, in 1842-1843. Collis was also known for a "flamboyant" style. This piece has the mark of the London location that Collis opened in 1847. |
